Gravitational Faraday Rotation of gravitational waves by a Kerr black hole

چکیده

Gravitational Faraday Rotation (GFR) is a frame-dragging effect induced by rotating massive objects, which one of the important, yet studied characteristics lensed gravitational waves (GWs). In this work, we calculate GFR angle $\chi_g$ GWs in weak deflection limit, assuming it Kerr black hole (BH). We find that changes initial polarization state GW. Compared with Einstein angle, dominant term rotation second-order correction to depends on light-of-sight component BH angular momentum. Such tiny and degenerates angle. some critical cases, close detection capability third-generation GW detector network, although degeneracy has be broken.

Gravitational Radiation from Extreme Kerr Black Hole

We analytically investigate gravitational radiation induced by a test particle falling into an extreme Kerr black hole. Assuming the radiation is dominated by the infinite sequence of quasi-normal modes which has the limiting frequency rn/ (2M), where m is an azimuthal eigenvalue and M is the mass of the black hole, we find the radiated energy diverges logarithmically in time. Then we S F evalu...

Article history: Received 29 August 2017 Accepted 17 September 2017 Available online 25 September 2017 Editor: M. Trodden We calculate the absorption cross section for planar waves incident upon Kerr black holes, and present a unified picture for scalar, electromagnetic and gravitational waves. We highlight the spin-helicity effect that arises from a coupling between the rotation of the black h...

Using the Uncharged Kerr Black Hole as a Gravitational Mirror

We extend the study of the possibility to use the Schwarzschild black hole as a gravitational mirror to the more general case of an uncharged Kerr black hole. We use the null geodesic equation in the equatorial plane to prove a theorem concerning the conditions the impact parameter has to satisfy if there shall exists boomerang photons. We derive an equation for these boomerang photons and an e...

Gravitational waves from the 3D collapse of a neutron star to a Kerr black hole

We present the gravitational waveforms emitted when a neutron star, modeled as an initially uniformly rotating polytrope, collapses to a Kerr black hole. We investigate the gravitational collapse by carefully studying not only the dynamics of the matter, but also that of the trapped surfaces, of both the apparent and event horizons formed during the collapse. The use of these surfaces, together...

Gravitational Faraday rotation in a weak gravitational field

Abstract We examine the rotation of the plane of polarization for linearly polarized light rays by the weak gravitational field of an isolated physical system. Based on the rotation of inertial frames, we review the general integral expression for the net rotation. We apply this formula, analogue to the usual electromagnetic Faraday effect, to some interesting astrophysical systems: uniformly s...
